Dear Parish Families,

   Welcome back to returning families and our new families! We are excited to begin the year with you and your children. My name is Jackie Prosak and the Director of Religious Education and Youth Ministry for both St. Vincent de Paul and St. Frances Cabrini Parish. My positon oversees all Catholic education of youth and young adults, and Sacramental. I have worked in this capacity for over 15 years combined. It is a pleasure to serve the church and this precious ministry.

     Our theme for this PSR year is “Made for Greatness”. This comes from Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. He implored those listening in his Papal Address that “You are not made for comfort but you are made for greatness!” We will be focusing this year on our heavenly helpers, the Saints and how we too can strive for greatness.

     The first day of our PSR year for grades K-7 and our Confirmation students will be Monday September 20^th, 2021. New this year, Kindergarten will be welcomed into the fold in our in person classes in a combined grade with 1^st Grade. It is our hope that this will lay a strong foundation for our primary age children and will serve the needs of our families. Preschool will still be a play/learn at home program.

     Our program is the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies. They use the same Gospels we hear at Mass to uncover our Catholic faith. They stay fresh and up to date with the Liturgical year. They also come with an age appropriate Catechism book that follows with church teaching and doctrine to explore. New this year, they have online access for both in person and at home learners. Which comes at no extra cost. There will be features for the Year of the Family and the Year of St. Joseph. Another blessing that abounds is that Pope Francis endorsed an Apostolic Blessing for the program which extends to each family and catechist that uses it!

     Enclosed you will find a schedule of our classes and special events as well as our registration form and medical release form. Confirmation will be in a separate mailing. With the advent of our new pastor, Father Neil, we are still planning to have an opening Mass on the first evening of Class. Should that change, you will be notified. There will still be an at home learning option. This works in a similar schedule, with parents serving as the main catechists going over the lessons, and with the guidance of the DRE and their Classroom Teacher as needed. Please indicate if you would like to do the at home option.

     Classroom assignments will be known the week we begin. Depending on our numbers of those physically returning, our classrooms may be a standalone grade or a combined graded classroom. In the same vein, there may be a lack of students in a particular grade and may need to be cancelled and the parents would teach remotely.

     Covid policies are still being directed by our Diocese and the State of the Ohio. We will learn more about what is expected of us very soon and will communicate this information in our bulletins and social media platforms.

      When you register your child, and using a paper form, please indicate if they will be in person or homeschool and fill out both sides. We can talk further if you do choose to homeschool and can always change up that the line of schooling.

     Grades K-7 Register BEFORE SEPTEMBER 7^th. Please call after this date to register.

Grades K-7 — $20/child — $50 Max per family

Confirmation registration fee is $30

Registration deadline is SEPTEMBER 7^th. All registrations after this date please contact the PSR office at 440-324-4212. Registrations can be mailed, completed on the PDF form that will be emailed home and posted on our website, dropped in the collection basket, or the night deposit box on the side of the rectory near the garages.
